Leeu Estate opened it’s doors in 2016. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful wine estates in the region with well manicured gardens, vineyards and exceptional art pieces (Sculptures) spread around the property.

Rooms to highlight are Room 2 (Studio Suite) and Room 6 (Executive Suite) in the Main House, both with balcony (2) or terrace (6) as well as the 2 Spa Suites & 2 Vineyard Suite.

Approx 500 meters away are the exclusive Villas; Terroir Suite with 2 Bedrooms (the second bedroom is not inter-leading into the main room/lounge, access only via small terrace), Cellars Suite with 2 Bedrooms sharing a lounge & dining room and Max House with 3 bedrooms, sharing a lounge & dining rooms. These Villas can be booked as either exclusive use or the rooms individually. The Villas are the only accommodation options at Leeu Estate which allow for children. Children are welcome at Leeu House and Le Quartier.

The service at Leeu Estate is as exceptional as we have grown to know and experience at Leeu House and Le Quartier.

Award-winning restaurant The Tasting Room (Le Quartier) will be closing on 30 April 2017 and replaced by La Petite Colombe (scheduled to open in the 1st week of August 2017), to be headed by the celebrated La Colombe team.

Le Quartier will close from 01.06.2017 – 10.07.2017 for refurbishments to the rooms.

An Indian restaurant, Marigold has recently opened under the Leeu Collection banner, located opposite Leeu House and next to well known Foliage Restaurant.

The Tuk Tuk Brewery, right next to Leeu House completes the Leeu Collection Portfolio with an excellent Tapas option (both Leeu House and Leeu Estate also each feature in house restaurants).

Last but not least to mention that the current Wine Tasting room at Leeu Estate which showcases world number 1 Mullineux Wine Collection will be replaced with in house Leeu Estate wines as soon as the first season of wines has been produced. The Leeu Wines will be produced by Mullineux, which is part owned by Leeu Collection.

MalaMala Main Camp Renovation

We are very excited to share the “re-imagination” of MalaMala, a complete refurbishment process which will begin October 2017 and is due to be completed June 2018. Kindly take note of the below detailed update as provided by MalaMala – we have no concerns over guests being inconvenienced during this process and will continue to offer MalaMala as a prime Safari Lodge, especially unique in the quality of game viewing, throughout this time.

A quick update first on Mala Mala Rattrays:

  • With immediate effect the existing Rattray Rates include all local Drinks (not Premium/Importated Brands)
  • Two Rooms are able to accommodate Twin Beds
  • Two Rooms are able to accommodate Triples
  • And very unique to Mala Mala – Rattrays continues to offer a maximum of 4 guests per safari vehicle

Here then the MalaMala Main Camp refurbishment plan as issued by MalaMala:

Michele Throssell Interiors (MTI) has been appointed as the design team on the project. Michele's vision for the project is "a celebration of MalaMala's rich heritage through a contemporary revisioning of the romantic colonial era – mixing animal print, bold graphics and tribal patterns, and local object d'arts with a nod to traditional luxury." This is aligned with our objective of creating a fresher and sharper feel for the camps while at the same time preserving the unique history and soul of MalaMala.

Our project team is busy finalising the building plans and scope of works which will determine the timing of the re-imagination project. We have been reluctant to commit to actual dates before receiving the final plans but we can now disclose the following proposed timetable for the re-imagination:

Phase 1: 01 October – 15 December 2017: 5 rooms at the southern end of the camp including Sable Camp.

Phase 2: 15 January – 15 March 2018: MalaMala Main Camp central facilities area (lounge, dining room, bar and safari deck) and 8 rooms. Guests will utilise the Sable Camp facility over this period.

Phase 3: 16 March – 30 June 2018: Continuation of 8 rooms on a rolling basis until all rooms are completed.

The start date of 1 October 2017 has been set to ensure that we are completely ready for the project and are not surprised by any unforeseen delays. We also wish to avoid any disruptions during the high season winter months of June to September.

Based on the timetable above:

  • Sable Camp will only be available until 30 September 2017 (at Sable Camp rates).

  • Sable Camp will be available again from 01 July 2018.

  • For the first 6 months of 2018, Sable Camp will be used to accommodate Main Camp 'over-bookings' (at Main Camp rates).

We are confident that there will be minimal inconvenience to our valued guests during the important re-imagination of the camps. During this period, we will endeavour to accommodate a maximum of only 4 guests per safari vehicle, whenever possible.
