We have never faced such hard times before where clients are scared to commit to any sort of traveling in the near or even far future…..many clients can not even plan, many are hesitant to confirm bookings and many just cancel because they are afraid to encounter any sort of cancellation fees.

We at Ilanga Travel want to try our utmost to create a safe flexible booking environment for you. We want you to be able to sell any holiday to your clients, knowing that they can cancel free of charge at any time while we are affected by this pandemic.

We are busy negotiating the following terms & conditions for COVID 19 related cancellations with suppliers on your behalf – these will enable you to cancel free of charge up to 48 hours prior to arrival of your guests if one of the following occurs :

• The government in the guests’ country restricts outgoing travel
• The government in South Africa restricts incoming travel
• International flights are cancelled and no alternative routings are available for guests to travel to and from South Africa
• The guest has contracted COVID19 and is receiving treatment or is in quarantine up to 48 hours prior to their arrival in South Africa. {Ilanga Travel will request proof of a positive test result}.

We are hoping that with this in place, we will be able to instil more confidence in the booking process. We are here for you, we are here to support you!

In every offer we will clearly state which properties have agreed to these terms & conditions and which have not. It is then up to you or your clients to decide if you would like to go ahead and swop out an accommodation that does not offer our revised terms.

Corona Update from South Africa

Good News – South Africa is easing the level 3 restrictions 😊

• Curfew is now from 23h00 until 04h00
• Restaurants must only close at 22h00
• Alcohol can be bought from Monday to Thursday from 10h00 until 18h00
• Wine Farms can sell their products during their normal operating hours
• Beaches, public parks and swimming pools are open again.

Our first load of 1 million vaccines has arrived in South Africa. People working in the health sector will receive this vaccination first. Next will be people over the age of 60, people with other illnesses and people in essential work areas. We are expecting to receive a further 500.000 vaccines this month and another 2 million in March.

So what's new this week?

• Thanda Tented Camp will be closed for any new FIT bookings for the year 2021. All existing bookings will be moved to Thanda Main Lodge. They are planning to re-open Tented Camp for FIT bookings in 2022 again

• Protea Hotel Port Elizabeth Marine in now a Tsogo Sun Hotel, called Southern Sun – The Marine

• Mount Grace Hotel & Spa is open again, also under the Tsogo Sun umbrella

• We have discovered a “new” restaurant in Cape Town: Utopia is one of Cape Town’s finest dining experiences. Located on the 15th floor in Cape Town’s trendy De Waterkant, it offers spectacular 360 views over our beautiful Mother City. The menu is delicious – each dish is beautifully prepared and presented. A flavour explosion with every bite you take!

• Collectors Treasury: Brothers Jonathan and Geoffrey Klass, owners of Collectors Treasury, founded the library in 1974 in a shop above a garage. The small business has now turned into an eight story building boasting around 1 million rare and old second hand books. Due to the vast amount of books, the walls as well as the floor are lined with books. Some are even displayed in the elevators due to the limited space. The bookstore sells first-edition prints and books that are no longer even published. Collectors Treasury also has maps, prints, engravings, newspapers, photographs, and thousands of vinyl records, including 78 rpm records. They also have a small selection of decorative art antiquities.
