Pre-Opening information on Sea Star Rock, Camps Bay
Ilanga Travel has recently conducted a visit to the site of the newest addition to the Sea Star collection – the Sea Star Rock in Camps Bay.
The location of this exciting new product is simply breath-taking – high above Camps Bay, backed by the stunning mountain range of the Twelve Apostles.
Sea Star Rock will be a 5 star guest house product. Children of all ages are welcome, and there are open plan public areas with a lounge area and library, as well as a lap pool and a jacuzzi.
All six rooms and suites have 180 degree views onto the Bakoven and Camps Bay coastline as well as Lions Head – difficult to be topped by any other property in Camps Bay.
Construction is well advanced and the property is taking bookings as of the end of December 2015.
There will be:
- Two pool rooms – B&B room rate from R4 500 high season / R3 200 low season
- Three Sea Star Rock suites – B&B room rate from R6 800 high season / R4 800 low season
- One private Pool Suite – B&B room rate from R7 800 high season / R5 500 low season
Eastern Cape – St Francis Links and Kariega Settler’s Drift
Ilanga Travel recently visited the Eastern Cape for 3 days to experience the following properties for you.
St Francis Links
This golf course is located an hours’ drive south of Port Elizabeth on its own Estate. It is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf course, and the best example of links golf in South Africa !
The course is beautifully laid out within the fynbos, a little inland from the coast. The shape of fairways and greens feeds from the natural contours of the land, as they have been placed on top of the sand. It makes sense, therefore, that bunkers are a strong feature of St Francis Links, and many of them are deep with soft sand.
The Clubhouse is very stylish and the service and staff a real gem – Golf Director Jeff Clause runs a very professional operation. This is a true experience for every fan of links golf – play it a few times if you can!
Accommodation is offered at the St Francis Links Lodge, conveniently located overlooking the 1st hole of the course. Golfers are picked up from the lodge in their golf cart for the day, before their game of golf and taken to the pro shop for registration.
The lodge offers excellent 4 star accommodation, with very good, thoughtful service and laid back comfort. It features 10 en-suite guest rooms and very generous public areas with a pool.
For meals it is recommended that you visit the excellent St Francis Links Clubhouse, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Kariega Settlers Drift
Settlers Drift is the new 5 star luxury lodge at Kariega.
It offers 9 very spacious and smartly laid out tented suites, with a lot of glass doors. Each suite has stunning views and a secluded viewing deck.
The public areas are built with an interesting wood and canvas structure – complimented by a spacious open lounge with a beautiful central fire place, lovely bar and lodge library.
The views overlooking the remote valley and Bushman's River are very picturesque. The valley is full of history with the first settlers crossing this river in 1820.
There is also a lovely infinity pool on site, and a small Spa treatment area, also with stunning views.
This is a beautiful new addition to the luxury game viewing experiences available in the malaria free Eastern Cape.
