What’s new this week in South Africa?

We are happy to report that our first clients, since our borders closed in March this year, have arrived in South Africa! They are safe and sound, and enjoying their honeymoon in our beautiful country!

In the meantime, we have explored Cape Town for you!

The Gorgeous George Hotel

Situated in the mother city, the Gorgeous George Hotel is an absolute treat! With 32 rooms, a vibey rooftop restaurant and unique décor, one cannot help but fall in love with the hotel. The rooms are beautiful and so stylish! There are three different room categories – studios, 1 bedrooms suites and 2 bedrooms suites. All rooms are equipped with upmarket amenities and nothing is lacking.

The Gigi Rooftop Bar and Restaurant is where the heart of the hotel lies. The food is exceptional and the drinks selection is one of the best in the city – from delicious cocktails to a huge Gin collection, there is something for everyone.

The pool deck is also on the roof top, and is a perfect retreat for guests, should they choose to enjoy the pool whilst having sundowners. The staff is wonderful and very attentive; you are always greeted with “Hello Gorgeous”, which is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face.

If you enjoy being right in the middle of the city where it is hip and happening, then the Gorgeous George Hotel is the place for you – you will not be disappointed!

The Marly Boutique Hotel

The Marly Boutique Hotel is a high-end boutique hotel offering 38 suites. Each room offers either a view of the ocean or a view of the mountain. Most suites have a balcony with loungers for relaxation. Rooms which do not have a balcony offer a spacious lounge to relax in. All rooms have double glazed windows to insulate the rooms from noise on the street. All rooms are equipped with TV, Nespresso coffee machine, mini bar and a room safe. The hotel also has a hair salon and spa, where guests can enjoy a relaxing massage, and boasts an amazing collection of portraits made by a local artist.

The Marly is centrally located and is a mere 20 minute drive from the Waterfront and Hout Bay. From the hotel, guests are within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The beach is just across the main road, for those that feel like relaxing in the sun. Clients are also close to both Bakoven and Clifton Beach.

The hotels Baptiste Rooftop Pool & Bar Lounge offers 360 degree views encompassing the Atlantic Ocean and Twelve Apostles mountain range. Guests can relax and enjoy a cocktail on one of the loungers, whilst looking out over the beach, or take a dip in the pool to cool down.

For those looking for a light meal and drinks, Chinchilla is situated next to the hotel, and also boasts amazing views of the ocean.

The Marly is ideal for clients who enjoy the night life and also want to be near the beach.

Room categories include Deluxe Sea Facing Suite (including a Jacuzzi), Junior Sea Facing Suite, Superior Sea Facing Suite, Superior Mountain Facing Suite, Classic Sea Facing Room, Classic Mountain Facing Room and Studio Sea Facing Room.

We have an artist in our Ilanga Family – meet Anne!

The Zeitz Museum Of Contemporary Art Africa (Mocca) is Africa’s largest contemporary art museum and an architectural marvel. It lies in Cape Town’s Waterfront and had its doors closed for 7 months because of the Corona Pandemic.

To celebrate their reopening, Zeitz Mocca sent out a call to all Capetonians to submit their personal artworks for a one-of-a-kind Exhibition.

Children, hobby artists, collectors – everyone was allowed to submit one art piece, and over 1 600 people answered the Zeitz Mocca’s call.

And one of my own little creations also made it into the gallery!

I am an enthusiastic hobby artist and handed in a little horseshoe that I decorated with nylon thread. The piece carries the title of “Age”. Yes, I, Anne-Kathrin Scherner, have an art work on display in the Zeitz Mocaa!!

The Zeitz Mocaa Exhibition “Home is where the Art is” opened on the 22 October 2020 and will continue until the 10 January 2021.

This presentation takes up one entire floor of the museum – from floor to ceiling, with tables in the centre – there is a huge variety of art displayed at it’s absolute best.
