An update on the iconic Lanzerac Hotel, Stellenbosch

The Lanzerac Wine Estate was sold in mid-2012 and has since been operating under new management. The new ownership have embarked on a large scale capital expenditure, which will be rolled out in a series of stages over the next couple of years. Some of the items completed thus far include:

• Phase 1 of the refurbishment plan was the complete remodelling and redesign of the Lanzerac Wine Tasting Room, boasting a beautifully appointed space to taste Lanzerac’s award-winning and acclaimed wines. The Tasting Room also offers an adjoining Delicatessen, where diners can enjoy the very best in fresh artisan produce. (Phase 1 completed December 2013).

• Phase 2 of the refurbishment plan was the full reconstruction of Lanzerac’s function venue, The Cellar Hall and the upgrade of the Manor House boardrooms. Lanzerac is a sought after venue for hosting high profile events, weddings, corporate conferences, management meetings and launches, boasting premium venues and top of the line facilities. The Manor House has two boardrooms, now with high quality facilities – solid yellowwood tables and leather back conference chairs. The newly renovated Cellar Hall offers delegates exquisite amenities and state of the art facilities. (Phase 2 completed October 2014).

• Phase 3 of the refurbishment plan is now the full refurbishment of all the hotel rooms, taking place in 2015 & 2016. We have completed the first 4 rooms, and currently busy with the next block of 15 rooms. This will take us to 19 classic rooms before the 2015 summer season. Rooms will boast newly purchased amenities (towels, bedding, softs), 5* conveniences and comforts, and original antique pieces and artwork. The remaining rooms will commence after season, early/mid 2016 up until the end of the year.

  Lanzerac will of course commit to the very careful management of this process to have the least impact on the guest experience. The following measures have been put in place:-

  We will endeavour to place any guest booked through one of our partners furthest from any refurbishment. Lanzerac’s rooms are very spread out over the Estate and this layout will lend itself to careful room assignment.

  All common areas will remain unaffected – restaurants, lounge, terrace, pool area and wine tasting.

  Any area under refurbishment will be fully screened off.

  Builders will not be permitted to leave the area under refurbishment.

  A security official will be stationed at the area under refurbishment.

• The latter part of 2015 will also mark soft refurbs to the lounge and restaurant, as well as touch up’s to the main pool area.

• Phase 4 of the refurbishment plan will be the complete remodelling of the Lanzerac Spa, to be completed in 2016, approx. 1 April for 7 months.
