Leeu Estates (opening 2016), an exclusive five-star boutique hotel property with 21 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, takes central position on 68 hectares of vineyards, landscaped gardens and fynbos (indigenous vegetation) in the Franschhoek valley. Positioned between the mountainside and river, just minutes away from the village of Franschhoek, it is the ideal setting for an elegant and sophisticated private hideaway, offering superb comfort, fine dining and platinum service. At the centre of this working wine farm is the meticulously refurbished 19th-century Manor House with its six rooms and suites. There are two rooms adjacent to The Manor House, and the remaining rooms and suites are located in spacious cottages among the gardens, oak trees and vineyards.

Delicious, innovative cuisine is prepared by Leeu Estates’ culinary team, headed by resident chef Oliver Cattermole. Lunch and dinner menus showcase the finest locally sourced organic and ethically farmed produce in creative fusion dishes with vibrant world flavours. At Leeu Estates, leisurely meals and fine South African vintages from the cellar are served in The Dining Room or al fresco on The Garden Terrace, seating up to 40 people. Outside visitors are welcome (pre-booking preferred). At Leeu House, our sister property in the village, relaxed meals and fine South African wines are served in The Conservatory or al fresco on the terrace, which combined seat 24 people. At both properties, breakfast is served from 07h00 and light meals are available during the day. Dinner is served from 19h00.

Set among the vineyards is Leeu Spa, a wellness sanctuary offering expert massage and holistic treatments inspired by centuries-old Asian traditions. The contemporary spa, which was designed by celebrated Spanish architect Tomeu Esteva of Esteva i Esteva Arquitectura, has three treatment rooms: one double suite, his and hers steam rooms, changing facilities and a hair salon. A 15-metre heated infinity swimming pool and TechnoGym-equipped gym cater to the most fitness-orientated guests. Personal training and yoga will be on offer.

Leeu House, an exclusive and private 12-room five-star destination, is the second property in the Leeu Collection, in the scenic Franschhoek Valley. An oasis of comfort and luxury, Leeu House’s appeal is its country guesthouse feel on the main street of vibrant Franschhoek village, within easy strolling distance of award-winning restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and many other attractions.

The stylish interiors are a contemporary take on Franschhoek’s traditional Cape Dutch heritage. The seamlessly integrated finishes are neutral, calm and multi-textured. Leeu House also showcases a number of important contemporary artworks and sculptures from various countries.

The 12 individually styled rooms and suites are luxuriously appointed. Two of them open onto their own private gardens, while two others have intimate terrace courtyards, and two have private balconies.

Breakfast is served from 07h00 and light meals are available during the day. Dinner is served from 19h00.

The latest addition to Leeu Collection’s portfolio, the romantic 21-room boutique hotel Le Quartier Français, with award-winning executive chef Margot Janse at the helm of its acclaimed restaurant, The Tasting Room, is a must do on every guest’s itinerary. Heritage Square is also part of the Leeu Collection and will bring an exciting new culinary element to the main street of Franschhoek in 2016, as will Tuk Tuk, a boutique microbrewery in collaboration with The Cape Brewing Company (CBC).
