Montagu Golf Course Re-Surfacing in 2016

In order to maintain a world class golf course with world class standards and reputation,a golf course needs to be closed from time to time for re-surfacing. It is with this in mind that we announce that the Montagu golf course will be re-surfaced in 2016. The required maintenance has been specifically planned for the winter months, to have minimal impact on our high season travellers and this is also within the best growing seasons.
The Montagu golf course will therefore be closed from 20 April to 20 September 2016. Should you have any affected bookings, Ilanga Travel will be in touch to discuss the options for each booking and make sure our clients still have a memorable Fancourt experience. For all new golf bookings during this winter period, the Links and Outeniqua courses will be still available as per normal.
The Montagu golf course was last re-surfaced in 2004, and while the greens are still acceptable for the majority of the year, once under stress they are not quite up to the high standards we strive for. Over time, golf greens generally tend to compact and sag in places, so during the re-surfacing process the golf course maintenance team will be able to get the greens back to their original size, shape and complexity.
The process for the re-surfacing of the Montagu green is not new to Fancourt, as we used a similar procedure three years ago when we resurfaced the Outeniqua greens and today we are still enjoying the rewards of that work.
We look forward to re-opening a new and revitalised Montagu golf course on 20 September 2016.
