Sun City Resort Refurbishments : Hotels & Meeting Facilities

Sun City Hotel

1. The Baobab will close as a function venue as from 15 July 2014.
It will be used as a temporary Casino area until 21 November 2014 and thereafter converted into restaurant space.
2. The Accacia & Jacaranda will close as function venues as from 15 July 2014.
Both areas will be used as a temporary Casino until 21 November 2014 and thereafter converted into restaurant space.
3. The RAJ Restaurant will move into the Calabash space on 15 July 2014.
4. The Calabash will move into the Sun Terrace space on 15 July 2014.
5. The Orchid will close for a refurbishment, date still to be announced.
6. The Sun Café will close and reopen as a Mugg and Bean, date still to be announced.

Convention Centre

1. The Hall of Treasures will close from 01 December 2014 to 01 February 2015.
2. The Ballroom will close from 01 December 2014 to 01 February 2015 due to the noise factor of refurbishment.
3. The Pilansberg room will close from 01 December 2014 to 01 February 2015 due to the noise factor as well as the soundproofing of this venue from the Superbowl.
4. A phased refurbishment of all the meeting facilities will take place from 10 December 2014 to 01 February 2015.

Cabanas

1. A phased refurbishment of all rooms will commence, block by block, on 15 January 2015 to 15 November 2015.
2. A refurbishment of all public areas will take place over the same period but dates will still be announced as to which areas are affected and for how long.

Alternative Venues

Sun City Management have looked at a number of alternative spaces to accommodate existing, as well as future bookings over this period and beyond.

1. The Greenhouse (Bowling Green) is a great venue which has a capacity of 250 pax.
2. A new venue at the Tenth hole will erected soon which will accommodate 250 pax.
3. Lost City Golf Club is a venue has been enlarged with a stretch tent over the front, side and courtyard which allows for 200 pax. The space below will be utilised for golfers.
4. The Gary Player Country Club is a venue which holds 120 pax.
5. The Peninsula, has a new deck that was opened on 01 July 2014 which adds an additional capacity of 120 pax, taking the Peninsula’s capacity to a 350 pax venue.
6. The Sun Terrace has additional seating increasing the capacity to 500 pax.
7. The Sun City Hotel Pool Deck, seating as increased to 100 pax, however the area can hold up to 250 pax
8. The Palm Terrace we have increased the capacity in both the Palm Terrace and Palm Court (C section). This area can accommodate up to 450 pax.
9. The new Cabanas pool deck has a capacity of 80 pax.
10. The Queens Quarter venue can accommodate 200 pax.

All maintenance work will be done during working / office hours (between 08h00 and 17h00) with no work to be done over weekends.
