Thonga Beach Lodge Upgrades

We are excited to share our plans for a refreshed and upgraded Thonga Beach Lodge. We are planning to make a number of changes to the lodge and attend to routine maintenance that is difficult to do while the lodge is operational. The upgrade has taken 2 years of careful planning due to the lodge being in the iSimangaliso World Heritage Park. This has required a number of stringent environmental restrictions and considerations due to the sensitivity of being so close to the beach on a coastline that has no developments on the beach for 60 kilometres.

The upgrade will commence on the 18 May 2013 and be completed by 28 June 2013. The lodge will be closed during this time.

We apologise for any inconvenience the closure of the lodge may cause to guests wanting to book during this time. We know that the result of this upgrade will be thoroughly enjoyed by our guests and enhance their experience at Thonga Beach Lodge even more.

• There will now be 2 rooms with panoramic ocean views that will have extended decks, private plunge pool and private seating area.
• Two of the existing rooms will have an additional private lounge added to them, giving guests added space to relax and take in the sea air.
• A brand new lounge will be created.
• An additional swimming pool will be added to the existing one with extra decking. The existing pool will be made deeper to accommodate scuba diving lessons.
• The reception area will be upgraded and will now incorporate a curio shop.
• The spa will be upgraded to allow for a waiting area and two treatment rooms.
• The mezzanine level will be opened as dining for private dinners.
